weird actions...
as some of you may know, i own one ball named zeus. he is acting a little odd.. when i picked him up, he occasionally gave a wheese sound. not constantly, once every ten seconds. and is acting very twitchy. he is not in shed and has no skin over his mouth and or nose. can you guys help me? i dont want him to be sick... BTW... he has grom 50 grams hevyer this week alone without feed. getting to be a big boy!! p.s. it is 12:30 here in colorado, and i am tired. so sorry for spelling mistakes...

Check for mucus in his mouth. Is he like laying with his head raised up?

Have you checked for signs of RI? If you can get the mouth open, take a look for excess mucus, bubbles, etc. Sometimes a snake can breath heavily and it is no reason to panic, but it does not hurt to check for other signs. ANy husbandry problems?

Could he possibly be hissing?
Since you say you only hear it when you pick him up, and he's also acting skiddish, I'm wondering if he's just not too happy/used to the handling. How long have you had him?

Good point.
Also, I have found that sometimes snakes breath more heavily when being handled if they are a little scared.
