Seriously Dont understand????
So, I visited my brother the other day and he has a spider male bp and I went to go check it out and I was like HOLY SMOKES it was huge the last time I weighed which is prolly a month ago he was only 400g now the sucker is at least pushing 650g and all he is feeding him are weaned rats I already told him that he needs to put him on small rats so dont worry I already told him that. But that is not the confusion im wondering about so here it is..
I got my female pastel bp the exact same time he got his we feed the exact same food cause we buy bulk f/t mice. We feed every 5 to 6 days and they are in the exact same enviorment we both built racks the same day. Im talking same rack same heat envt same heat tape everything the real question is how is his snake almost 650g and my snakes is barely pushing 350g... I will say she just went off feed for about a month ago but I am just so shocked that his is so big.
Do females grow differently then males and why is my been off feed for almost a month it is stressing me out as well as pissing me off thanks help appreciated.

Re: Seriously Dont understand????
Nah. It's really just that some snakes are pig faces, and others aren't. Your pastel is a 2009? 350g is a little small for a home-grown, rat-fed 2009, but only a little.
For comparison, my 2008s range from 550 grams to 1 kg. I have girls and boys on both ends of that range.Meanwhile, my friend K. has a 2009 female het red axanthic that is 1100 grams. Some of it is diet: K. feeds rats, and uses live rodents for about 1/2 of her animals; I feed mostly f/t jumbo mice, and if a snake turns me down, I'll walk away rather than force the issue. But even K. is dumbfounded by her 1100 gram 2009 het red.
I wouldn't worry. You may have to wait 3 years instead of 2 to breed the pastel, but she's really fine. One year the spider will go off feed for 6 months straight, and she'll catch up then.

Re: Seriously Dont understand????
Females typically grow faster than males, but we are also talking about the male being a spider.... I have two spiders and both eat better and grow faster than anything else I have... I have talked to some other people with them and they seem to be prolific eaters and grow extremely well.... other people may have other experiences but that is mine.

They all grow at different rates. There is some speculation that spiders grow a bit faster though.

Well I dont like to speculate but look at the dates. It's a female.
