Houston we've got a problem..
I was taking some pictures of my newest gecko and he bolted (i think my cats may have scared him because he's been so calm). He's lost somewhere in my room which is a large studio filled with a bunch of stuff.
I've put a towel under the door to make sure he can't get out. I weighed him (i call it a him) and hes about 6 grams. Im so worried I'm never going to find him, i feel like such a terrible pet owner. I searched for him and my bf helped me but we didn't come up with anything.
I'm SO worried my one cat might eat him, but i'm banking on him to find the gecko..
Does anyone have any tips on finding lose cresties? The cats have a water bowl, and the relative humidity is about 40% in here. I worry that he won't have any food or he might get dehydrated.. I'm off from work all tomorrow so I'll continue the search. He was just really special to me and I feel like such a dunce even having this happen.
Any stories or anecdotal evidence anyone can give to help me find him will be EXTREMELY appreciated.

Remove the cats if at all possible at they are the most immediate threat. Just one well placed claw or a bite before you can intervene could be too much for a 6 gram gecko to survive through, so I wouldn't risk the cats finding him before you do.
Most of the time geckos go upward, so look on top of blinds, lights, etc. If it is light in the room he will most likely hide until it gets dark. I would recommend turning out the lights and sitting quietly in the room listening for him to come out and start moving around. This may be easier said than done depending on exactly how large this studio room is.
If you don't find him tonight, leave food and water out somewhere close to the last place you saw the gecko. He may not find it if he has wandered a ways off, but the next danger is dehydration so any water sources you can provide may help until you can find him.

There is not other place for the cats to go unfortunately. But they're sleeping at the moment. I put out some food and water close to where i last saw him and am keeping my eye out.
I went through EVERYTHING on the floor and put some stuff away. We've got the lights off. He did JUST drink (i misted him and he licked the water). But im concerned about him succumbing to dehydration rather than the cats. One is very predatory acting, but he's not very good at catching things most of the time. The other is more of a lump than a cat.
I also put some snake skins on the shelves and the other snake racks (near where he was) so that way if he walks on them I'll hear him, or the cats will and start going bonkers (the snake racks are off limits to them by means of the penny can). Im hoping i can just kinda nab him tonight.. but thats just me hoping.

Just keep your ears open as much as possible. My sister has a crested that recently escaped and he found his way into a vase that had a dried leaf in the bottom of it. My mom was spending the night at her place and something woke her up crinkling around in the bottom of the vase...

stuff like that makes me feel a lot better. I just want to find him. The dumber of my two cats knows somethings wrong, i'm banking on the other kitty to find him tonight, he's a very good bug chaser, just a poor bug catcher.

When something in our house does happen to make a prison break, I depend on the dogs and cats to help me find it. Watch them VERY carefully, they will probably find it for you. Just make sure you get a hold of it before they do.
I'm sure you'll find him/her though.
