    Out of season?

I was just curious how many of you breed out of season?

    Re: Out of season?

Im trying with my SD retics right now but I have not seen a lock. All my other snakes have either laid eggs or are getting ready to lay. Im going to try late season with a couple others as well but everyone is back on food so Im not sure how it will go.

    Re: Out of season?

I tried at the very end of the season and I'm not having much success. I assume it depends on the snake since some of them will still go right now.

I've had an incubator running non-stop for about 4 years!

I'm still pairing. I've been seeing some good signs, but no eggs yet.

    Re: Out of season?

Thank you guys for your answers ... I'm still attempting with my female. She started locking at the beginning of the season and hasn't since, so I'm occasionally placing my butter male in with her, but haven't seen any locks.

    ColdBloodAddict,

I'd like to try this too, but have questions.

What type of setup do you have?

Do they tend to lock up more from Jan-Apr, or do you see them produce year round about the same?

Do you fluctuate temps to get it to happen?
Lots of BPs, and still not enough!

I have a rack system I built myself with tubs. However I think my problem is that it's in our bedroom and the temps are a bit too low. I think that it's like they're in the "cool" season in my bedroom. We're moving them into a different room (after an argument that it was MY house and I should be able to do what I want with it...but that's a whole different story) and I'm going to have more stable/higher temperatures for them.

This is my first year breeding and I'm still learning a great deal, but I believe that its recommended that you fluctuate the temps cooling them down in fall and warming them up starting in January.

    Re: Out of season?

My Lesser x Mojo are locking again...I'm not fluctuating temps or anything special. However, the other girls are not receptive to him at all it appears. So, I'll keep rotating him in for the next month or so or until they start eating again.
