Egg Update
Well it has almost been a week since Zim laid her eggs. The incubator is staying around 81. It sometimes fluctuates down to 80 or up towards 82. Is this okay? I have noticed some white fuzz growing on some of the infertile eggs. These eggs are pretty tightly stuck to the good eggs. How can I fix this problem? And on a good note, I candled those that had veins on the first day and now it is unmistakable. Nice red veins in about 4 eggs. I'm sooooo EGGcited.

Re: Egg Update
The white fuzz is mold. Not much you can do about it. A good healthy egg won't become affected. And a fluctuation of a couple of degrees is no big deal. Keep in mind that in the wild, they don't have incubators with Herpstats keeping things dead set at a given temperature.
What you don't want is it to be 75 in the morning, rise to 85 during the day, and then back down to 75 at night.

Re: Egg Update
Also just to add for your future reference and for others, is that if you do have slugs, right after they're laid, they can often be gently pulled apart from the other eggs without doing any damage. Healthy eggs once stuck together are stuck together, but the slugs dont stick as well. I always try to pull all the slugs because they will eventually rot and mold. At this point its too late to try and safely pull them apart, but next year if you get slugs, try and remove them right after they're laid.

Re: Egg Update
Thank you so much! You are such a big help! I tried pulling them apart when they were first laid but I was too worried about harming the good eggs so after a few unsuccessful tries, I gave up. Hahaha.

They don't pull that easily, it takes a little effort. But by little effort, I mean a little effort. Maybe akin to pulling velcro apart. Though if you're unsure, its better to leave them than to force them apart.

Re: Egg Update
I'm leaving them alone. So far none of the white eggs are getting the mold on them, even the ones that don't have veins. Can't wait for July! That is when they should hatch, right? 65-70 days at that incubation temp? At least I've learned a little patience. I'm not checking them every five seconds. I open the tub every other day to let the air circulate a bit.
So I know with bp eggs, you can see movement in the eggs as you get further along in incubation. Can you also see movement in corn snake eggs or no? They just seem so tiny.

Re: Egg Update
What about putting any desenex foot powder on em or some chlorhexidine? Even liquid band-aid?
I've seen people do this on eggs that are molding and it keeps it at bay....
Might be something to use the search function on on any forums your on....
Hope this helps

From what I've read, at least with cornsnake eggs, is that people haven't had much success trying these methods. You can try them but I wouldn't plan on them working.
And yes 65-70 days is about right, but it can take longer.
