Report: Mark Coleman vs. Ken Shamrock in the Works for July Impact Fighting Championships Event in Australia

I'm not sure if it's because of the weather, the beaches or their commission's lax drug testing policies, but Australian MMA is attracting quite a few fighters these days.

MMANews is reporting that Ken Shamrock and Mark Coleman will face each other under the Strikeforce Aussie-based Impact Fighting Championships banner July 10. The promotion's inaugural event will also feature a main card bout between Josh Barnett and Geronimo "Mondragon" Dos Santos.

Shamrock, who is 3-7 in his past ten fights, has not fought since defeating stevia magnate, Dan Quinn's training partner Ross Clifton (RIP) last February. Following the bout, the UFC Hall of Fame inductee was suspended for one year by the California State Athletic Commission for testing positive for the anabolic agents 19-Norandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone and Stanozolol. Since the suspension, the 46-year-old made headlines for his failed lawsuit against the UFC's parent company Zuffa LLC.

Coleman was recently dropped by the UFC after compiling a 1-2 record in the Octagon that consisted of a win over Stephan Bonnar and losses to Randy Couture and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Since being let go by the promotion, the 45-year old has kept mum as to whether or not he planned to fight again, but it appears as though he is going to take at least one more fight before applying for his pension.
