    In case of a non-feeding...

I would like to know what I should keep on hand to make sure I can keep a medium to large mouse for a week maybe more. Not just the basics(food, water, air) but what you use and if you recommend them. I'm not looking to spend a lot on them but the least I can do for my BP's prey is to make them comfortable during their short stay with me. I'd really like to know about what kind of food and bedding you use and anything else that is commonly overlooked when buying housing equipment for them.

I've spent thousands on my fish hobby alone its a little scary thinking about how much I'll be spending now that I'm getting into the world of herps.

Mine get bedding, food, water and an excercise wheel. My ASF's get the same minus the wheel. You could throw in used tp rolls also.

Mine get Mazuri 6F lab block as a staple diet. I also supplement with fresh foods such as fruits, veggies, pastas (cooked and dry), oatmeal, cereals (low or no sugar), eggs (cooked), and meats (cooked).

For bedding I use Southern States brand wood pellets (like they use in horse stalls). I also put a layer of aspen on top of this for comfort.

They get toilet paper rolls to chew on.
    Under Construction.....

Re: In case of a non-feeding...

Well, I feed only live rats, and I live in New Jersey. For the most part, if one of my snakes don't eat, I look out side to see if the hawks are hanging around. If they are, I feed the hawks, they are funner to watch then any animal I've seen eat so far. I kind of think since I did it twice now they think they are going to get lucky. I don't do it enough to make them dependent on me to feed them, that is not the case. I wouldn't want to screw with nature, but every once in awhile they get a freebie.
