A new native member to my collection

Seems like a Desert King, and I popped without seeing hemipenes so I assume it is a she.

My cousins' aunt found this snake in her yard and brought it over just a couple minutes ago. She's in a 6qt Sterilite tub with a water dish. I fed her a pinkie and she took it. Had to do the zombie dance first, but she took it.

She looks to be in good shape from my observations, I looked in her mouth and checked her body out. She's very sweet too, hasn't bitten or musked. Say hello to the new member, got any names?

EDIT!: My bad, I looked up Desert King pics and she isn't a Desert Looks to be a Common King, and I'm unsure if they are native to Arizona.. Guess I'll look it up.

King or any colubrid that size needs to be probed as they can be injured easier when larger in size. Popping is best with hatchlings.

    Hes nice though.

That is a king snake for sure. I used to own one that looked just like yours, and I named her checkers because her stomach looked like a checker board.

Thanks! I've popped a King that was around the size of this one and I saw hemipenes, and the end of the tail is more rounded than sharply tapered (matters in some cases ) but I'll try to get a friend to probe her.

Yeah, kings are my favorite out of the colubrids family too, but I'm still more of a ball python fan.

Yeah I'm more of a python & boa fan, colubrids don't really do it much for me.

I'll be breeding Ball pythons, Dumeril's boas, and Kenyan Sand boas (ssshhh!) so far, as a start at least.

Yes, they do, but from the pictures this seems like a Common, Cali Kings normally have a cleaner pattern from what I have seen as well as larger white bands.

Yeah, I'm going to be breeding ball pythons, mostly pied balls. I'm getting mainly females right now, then I'll be getting males most likely next year, unless I find a good deal now.
