Growth rate?

Hey guys, my question is this..I would like to have my BP grow large, but I've had him for 2 years now and he's now about 2 ft. long. Is this a good growth rate? How can I have him grow into a heavier snake and about 4 ft. long? Thanks!

Ball pythons will grow of their own accord, provided they are being fed well. Males are typically smaller then females, so I wouldn't expect your male to be overly large. Some males have grown to be longer than 5 feet; they exist, but this is very rare.

Ball python growth can't be mandated or forced - they're all different. And most often, completely random. You can have have a gigundo female lay a clutch, and some hatchlings from that same clutch will grow to be somewhat small. Just offer your BP appropriately sized meals every 7 days, and he'll grow to whatever potential is set out for him. Just please, don't power feed.

As long as you are feeding him appropriately sized meals then he will continue to grow. A 2 year old snake will grow considerably slower then a hatchling or yearling.

For reference, I feed my 2 year old ball pythons small rats weighting about 90-100g each once a week.
