    Am I overfeeding?

Ok, a little background info: I help take care of several animals that belong to my uni. There are also several other people that care of these animals throughout the week. Recently, we acquired an A. Metalica (pink-toed tarantula).

One guy told everyone that there should always be live prey in the enclosure, but the tarantula eats them right away, so people have been feeding her 1 to 2 cockroaches EVERYDAY (monday-friday). Call me crazy, but doesn't that sound like a little too much?

Also, I'm pretty sure that she's not an adult yet, and she just molted about a month ago, if that helps.

    Re: Am I overfeeding?

That is too much. Plus I personally would never leave live prey in the enclosure with my T. Of course with avics if you do not put it in their web you would have to let it run around for a littl while on the ground so he/she will come down and get it. But don't leave it in there at all times just running around. Avics are lucky that they have they luxury to stay up high in their web and stay away from the crickets if they want but i still wouldn't want the crickets running around and pooping in my T cages. That is just me though...

Young T's will eat every day if given the chance but they don't NEED it. It's best to feed one prey item once a week. For adults, every two weeks.
