PA State Laws on Owning a Ball Python?
Hello BP.net! I have a question to ask, obviously. Are there any laws against owning a ball python in the state of Pennsylvania? I am looking into owning one at some point, but the woman whom I live with believes that a person must have a permit before buying one. I have never heard of this before, but I would like to know from you guys if this is true or not. Also, any additional information of PA's state laws for owning ball pythons (or exotic animals in general) would be much appreciated! Thank you.

im not 100% on this, but venomous animals are legal in PA im pretty sure they are very lax on laws there. I should probably check on that since i may be moving back to PA...

from what i have read in Pa you only need a permit to keep a Native snake species meaning you can buy and own any non native snake here without permit if of legal age.... I actually know of two places in within 30 mins of here i can purchase a Gaboon or albino monacled cobra lol
but ball pythons are for sale eveywhere here so no permit needed

I have a ball python and I don't have a permit. I am positive you don't need one.

as a native of Philadelphia both the BP i bought at the reptile expo that was in Reading Pa in January and the BP my friend bought from Petco, neither of us had anything about a permit mentioned,I'm almost 99.9% sure you do not need a permit for a BP
