    Boa at Petco, considering it...

Well, all the petstores besides mine are not going to be selling boa constrictors anymore. Which sucks. The past few months I have been going to our local Petco, and they have a colombian boa I believe to be het for something. He almost looks like a pastel, already over 3ft at least and a bit expensive of course I am honestly considering purchasing him.

Supprisingly, he's in the best condition of any of the snakes there and I want him quite badly lol. The manager says they just want to get rid of him, but still want 164 for him.

    Should I do it? ^_^

If you like the snake, then why not? Even if its a normal, it may be really attractive to you, and that all that matters. And at 3ft he is already well started, but still check for signs of bad health.

It's hard to not buy something like that if you really want it. With a boa, I would personally look at buying from a reputable breeder. With Petco I would say to check out all of the other herps there. I've seen mites more times than I can count at those stores, but your Petco could be a good one. That's a bit pricey. If they really want to move it and you decide to go for it maybe you can bring in some KS ads to show them what they're actually selling for. I don't think they will normally deal like that, but if they really feel the need to free up the space then it's worth a shot.

If he's a normal colombian, then that's just awesome. He's absolutely beautiful. I've had my eye on him for awhile, I've taken him out and seen no sign of mites or anything wrong just yet.

I know what you mean, i'd much rather buy a boa from a well known breeder at a show or online. This petco hasn't been to bad compared to quite a few I've been into, they actually take care of their snakes pretty well. I will definatly look him over well when I go back in, and take in some information to convince them to lower the price. If they are that desperate to get rid of him then they'll probably drop the price.

If you gonna pay that much for it you might as well get one from ms lynn at boas and balls str8 up. Then you can know what you getting your snake will be 75 bucks and shipping will be 40 or 50 bucks you do math just my.

IMO thats a bit to much to pay, the boa market has dropped and you should try and make a deal with them haha
I wonder what petco pays for young boas, I bet the markup is intense.
