Here is my new friend Maubi.
He is 6 years old and 4 feet long... i didnt plan on getting an adult.. buttt...:]
He use to be a 2nd grade class pet... Hes active and alert... and i think he is about to shed...
I do have a question.. of course... My UTH temp is goin up and down like crazy.. it was stable at 90 until i put him in... then it went 80 and then to 100!
is that normal? and hw do i fix it?
Hes curled up in his hide in the midddle of the cage... and the temp is at 100

Do you have a thermostat hooked up to the UTH?

Re: He has arrived! :]
I'm taking you dont have a thermostat hooked up to the uth, it will flux lke that without one.
I'd say pile the substrate up a bit thicker on the UTH side so that the surface temp is 90 or close to, That way if the UTH spikes like that again, hopefully it doesnt change the surface temp too much inside his enclosure.

Okay so the temp below the substrate (paper towels) is 100, but above its 90... that okay?
ive also official bought a thermostat online.. should be in soon
also, the humidity in the tank is like 75! how do i lower that...
My Guy is shedding so im not freaking out... but i know i have to get it down in the future... what do i do?

Above substrate being 90 is fine, watch for burrowing at 100 degrees I think that can burn your snake.... For humidity In the pics you have a plastic tub ( I think lol ) if so to lower humidity you can drill more holes so that there is more air flow... Unless you live in a high humidity area, I'm not sure what you'd do then but your right 75 should be fine for when he's shedding.... I'm not much better then a newbie myself so I may be wrong xD
Good luck though xD and have fun!

Thanks for replying!:] yeah ill keep a close eye on him until i get that thermostat...
and yeah it is plastic:] good eye.. good eye:] I did some research earlier and it does seem like more holes would do the trick... buttt that means i gotta take him out to do soo... ugh.. im worried about stressing him out with to much handling...

I am reallly having trouble with the humidity... it went up to 80... drilled more holes and it dropped to 75.... when i take out the water bowl and take off the lid it drops to 55-60.... Now it is really humid where i live in texas right now... which may play some part.. but what should i do... im worried about it..
Alssooo got a decent pic yesterday... i took the other ones real quick with my phone... :/

Re: He has arrived! :]
So finally the humidity has come down to 60! its funny that im having such a problem with this... since most people have an issue keeping it up... I just hope it doesnt rise again
I did what u said and moved the water to other side of the cage.. that helped... and i also noticed that its lower at night when i have my fan on so ive been leaving it on... any more suggestions on how to keep it low if it spikes again? would drilling holes at the top of the cage help?
thanks
