Re: New Rescue
Hey, I'm Jimi's father. I want to give you guys a little more info on this.
My wife found this on CL and really wanted to check it out. I told her that the snake was not worth what they were claiming. She wrote them and they sent her some pictures of the set up and snake. It looked pretty good for $100 for all of it including the enclosure. I wanted to go with her to see it, but I had to work last minute so I was unable. My wife and her sister went without me.
My wife came home with this snake in a 20 gallon. The guy was weird about setting the enclosure on its side in our van, so he gave her this 20 gallon instead. The whole thing seemed sketchy from the start. If I had gone with her, we would not have came home with this snake.
The snake isn't in that bad of shape, really. It has some bad stuck shed on its head, but it shouldn't be too difficult to take care of. It does not have mites. It's mouth and vent look clear and healthy. It does not appear to be underweight. I thought I heard it make a slight wheezing sound once or twice last night, but it isn't making that sound anymore. We will continue to monitor for a few months while it is in quarantine.
The QT set up was thrown together last minute. I was not expecting to have to get an enclosure set up, as I thought we were getting the one he was in. I set this up temporarily just to get the basics covered, heat is good, humidity is good, he has a hide and a water bowl. I am going to get him set up in a tub today, instead of that aquarium and get the heat tape on a thermostat instead of the dimmer by the end of the week (I need to order another thermostat, all mine are being used in the snake room and on our incubator).
After 3 to 6 months of quarantine, he will be put in our snake room, which is kept at 82 degrees and 50% humidity 24/7.

Re: New Rescue
That's exactly why I don't buy snakes off CL. Looks like that guy is gonna need a lot of TLC. His skin looks bad, especially the head of course. Hopefully that is the only thing wrong with him, that can be fixed pretty easily with time. I give my blood a good hour long soak in the tub once a week or so to keep his skin nice and healthy. Good luck with this guy.

Re: New Rescue
I would give him a good soak. also, make sure to keep that humidity up around 75-80 it is crucial.
Cool looking blood by the way. they are great snakes you will enjoy having him.

Re: New Rescue
I looked around and I'm not finding a suitable tub for this guy. He definitely won't fit in the 41 quart rack. I'm leaning towards ordering an AP T-10 tomorrow. Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

AP T-10 are perfect for bloods. That's what I house mine in and he loves it, I highly recommend them. Holds heat and humidity really well.
