We adopted! p.s. Im long winded sorry!
It's funny we didn't think we'd get another BP until we were at least into a house of our own, but after some hard thought it broke my heart just thinking of her going to another home that wouldn't give her the love that we would give her. She is after all the snake that got me hooked on BPs and eventually lead to me buying Hoobs. (we're really actually not sure if she is a she but it doesn't really matter)
Side note: we've read up on the recommended quarantine procedures and are following them to the best of our abilities for the safety of both animals.
She's approx. 2 years old, somewhere around the 1000g area (I'll weigh her once she settles in), she came with a tiny water dish, stuck shed, nasty pine shavings, an "vintage" heat lamp (sparks included), some gecko stair looking thing for a hide and a wizard statue. The previous owner said "she hadn't ate in awhile" whatever 'awhile' really means.
Day 1: I read up on that shed caresheet. Placed her in a tub and gutted the 20 gal she came in. Cleaned it out and saved the plant attatched to the corner of the glass. I gave her some new houses and fresh water. She drank all night.
Day 2: Transferred her to the tank we had bought, but didn't have in the house the day she came home. Gave her aspen, a real heat lamp, under tank heater and another soak. Most of the shed is gone now and she's LOVING the new hides.
We're on Day 3 now. I've noticed she hasn't really slept.. well like compared to Hoobs anyways. I find everytime we go into the spare room for anything she pokes her head out with in seconds. It's kind of crazy, I'm use to Hoobs just sucking his body in his house, followed by "don't touch me mom I'm sleeping"
Could this be just due to the stress of moving? Or not eating? Should we attempt to feed or wait? Any tips would be great.
Anyways a quick shot of Scarlet in her temp set up :

Home sweet home (sorry its a tiny bit blurry):

Awwww! She's gorgeous. Congrats on saving this one.
I would probably give her the week of rest in her new home. She's probably just checking it out. Feeding too early might stress her out into thinking there is something living in there with her. She might just be a curious one.
Some of mine come out as soon as they here the door open, and others..... well they could care less if an earthquake hit. They just want to sleep. Lol.

Thank you both for the quick reply! We want to give her a decent amount of time to adjust but it's hard knowing she's probably dreaming of a yummy defrosted rat lol
Stratus: Thanks I hope everything goes well and we can get her feeling safe and secure

Yeah, I'm sure she deffinately is. Remember, stress comes first to these guys. If they are stressed they will starve themselves to death.
On the bright side, when it comes to feeding day, you should have no trouble getting a nice meal in her.

I LOVE HER NAME! I am a huge Gone With The Wind fan, and have a cat named Rhett. I always tell him that someday I'm going to get him a Scarlet.
Congrats on your new adoption!

Thanks! It's actually the name she came with. We thought about changing it, but I think it might be weird to do so. lol

Congrats on the new BP, and thank you for rescuing it. Its always a great story when someone gives a herp a good and proper home after coming from inadequate conditions.
As far the he/she thing im leaning towards a male. She doesnt look emaciated from the pictures, but he/she is a little skinny for being two years old, even for a male. I would say its a male. Females at two years of age should be much larger, but maybe its a she and they just havent been feeding properly which wouldnt be a surprise considering the other husbandry issues they had. But again thank you for rescuring him/her!

That was my thought too, she's really small for a two year old female. But if she hasn't eaten in 'awhile', then who knows how often she actually ate for her previous owner? Even stressed BPs will take a small mouse if they're really starving.

Re: We adopted! p.s. Im long winded sorry!
I feel like adopting her was one of the best things I've done and it makes my heart smile when I see her all secure and snug in her new house because I know one day soon she will lead a stress free life.
It's funny because my boyfriend just said to me last night that he bets she's really a he. lol
I think the pervious owner was only feeding her once to two times a month or at least that's what was said to me last summer. I don't know for sure how frequent Scar it was in the last 6 months though.
