Protecting pics with watermarking software????
Having just experienced content from my website (both pics and text) being used elsewhere without my prior knowledge let alone permission for the second time this year, I've decided to look into getting some watermarking software. Has anyone on here got any recommendations?
I have recently put up a generic copyright statement but would be interested in other people's experiences of tackling this problem?
Thanks
Chris

Any photo editing program where you can create a semi-transparent layer will work. Most people probably use Adobe PhotoShop. I prefer Corel PaintShop Pro. I'm sure there are free places online you can use as well.

FastStone Photo Resizer is also really good - and free. You can also batch rename/resize photos and it's very handy. I don't think most people are going to run out and buy photoshop (a several hundred dollar program) just to watermark their photos .

Thanks all so far, nice response in 10 minutes!!!
I'm not a PhotoShop user and don't really want to spend £££ on something just to watermark pics. I currently use MS Office Picture Manager to resize and crop my pics and I've just tried a piece of freeware called waterMark V2 which I've had a play with and seems to do the job:

However, it doesn't seem to have much in the way of help and what I'd really like is to have a semi clear embossed effect with a copyright notice and my web address on each pic I post online.
Please keep the recommendations coming, I'm sure many of us could use something like this?!

I use FastStone because that is what Deb taught me how to use. She has a walk through on how to do it but I still needed her help to figure it out and she was nice enogh to help me out with it and get me squared away!!! That is what i use to watermark my all my pics. On a side note: Thanks again Deb
