    Sexing

Hello all. I am still trying to learn how to sex my new ball python. I tried to "pop" the snake but i could not get anything to "pop". Not sure if I was not pressing hard enough or what. I figure that I will get someone else to do it for me latter on, once I find someone who can do it.

But I noticed 2 little ....hmmmm....bumps on either side of the vent. I remember reading somewhere that these "bumps" was a sign of what sex they were but was not a concrete source of information. But I was wondering what these bumps might tell me.

Man I hope my post was readable. LOL

Be very careful when popping. You can really hurt the snake, i.e. break it's tail... If I where you I would take it to someone who knows how to pop the snake properly.

Are you referring to the spurs on each side of the vent? , if so both males and females have them.

The only accurate way to sex a Ball Python is by popping or probing, it takes practice best thing is to find someone near you willing to show you how it's done and than practice.

"spurs", yeah that was it. I could not remember the proper name. I think I am going to stay away from popping for now. I will keep an eye out and see if I run across anyone that knows how to do it. For now I guess I will continue to call it a "him".
