    2010 Incubator

Well, I'm shooting for a few more clutches this season then last year. So I decided to upgrade my incubator. I found a super sweet wine cooler on craigslist for $30, added $15 of flexwatt, computer fan and two small temp gages. I also ordered a ranco thermostat from reptile basics. I can fit 5 clutches perfectly in this setup.

    Awesome! Congratulations!

I would love to get my hands in a cooler like that.

How's the temp swing with that compared to using a proportional one?

As long as you put a few water bottles in it, it shouldn't be bad.

I think without having the computer fan the temp would very unbalanced from the top to the bottom of the incubator. It's been running for two weeks now and has held the temp very stable at 88.5-89.

Last season I used a small cooler with a Zoo Med ReptiTemp 500R. Honestly, it worked really well at holding even temps. I think the computer fan also helped big time with that incubator as well. The temp swing was a little bit more compared to the ranco I'm using now.

I've yet to use any water bottles, but maybe this year. It's seems fine without them, but it maybe worth a try.

    Re: 2010 Incubator

I was looking at coolers online and at the local super stores. I couldn't find anything that would fit my needs without having to buy a giant white cooler, which I have no place to store it.

Here's a picture of closet full of reptile supplies, rodent freezer and now incubator. This has been a few months in the works trying to get this closet situated.

    Re: 2010 Incubator

Why is it that i almost always see the fans on the bottom of the incubators when because of the fact that heat rises it seams that it would make more sense to put it at the top blowing downwards? Just something that I've noticed in the past and never asked about.
