    Flex-WHAT?

Can someone please asplain to me how the Flexwatt heat tape works? I don't understand it the way the website puts it. Let alone how it would work with a thermostat.

    Thanks

The word tape can be misleading. It's basicly a thin strip of plastic with wiring inside that heats up when it's plugged in. Plug the flexwatt into the thermostat, set it to the proper temp and you're good to go.

Flexxwatt is sold by the foot, unless you choose to have it prewired, you have to solder it yourself or buy the clips for it. You can cut it to any length you want. Once you wire it to a plug, you simply plug it into a thermostat and put the thermostat probe on the flexwatt.

The thing that I dont get though is how the thermostat plugs into the flexwatt? I saw an online diagram that showed how to splice a cord for a dimmer switch and flexwatt...but Im a little lost on this?

Its like when you plug something into an extension cord .

You wire the flexwatt to the male end of an extension cord. Then you plug it into the power strip attached to the thermostat.

Oh...now I am starting to see the end product......so if I am tracking...the thermometer plugs into the wall for the actual power source? Sorry Kaball, dont mean to jack your thread here...i think that we both might be trying to figure out the same thing?

    Re: Flex-WHAT?

yeah its really simple, the flexwatt is connected to the "extension thingy" ou plug the end into the wall, tgeb you put the probe on the flexwatt and plug the flexwatt into the extension, that way when the probe signals the thermostat that its getting too hot it cuts the power that goes into the flexwatt
