thawing question

I was just wondering...
A friend of mine suggested dividing the tank with a piece of ceramic tile, snake on one side, and rat on the other. This is basically pre-scenting...

Anyway, my BP has never had F/T, and I was wondering if after thawing the rat, would it be a good/bad/neutral thing to:
1- divide the tank with the tile,
2- place the rat on top of where the UTH is to warm it?

Basically, I'd like to feed in the cage -- which is how she's been fed her whole 6 years -- and I'd like to really get the cage pre-scented as enticement for the F/T rat. Previous keeper had only offered live rats every 2-6 months...

You can pre-scent by leaving the thaws rat right near the cage. You don't need to go through all that separation thing.

For one snake, you can just heat up your feeders in warm water until the rat is warm all the way through.

If you have a hair dryer, you can heat up the rat a little more before offering it. If you use the hair dryer on it as the same room as the snake, it will do a great job of pre-scenting the room for you. Mmm Hot nasty dead rodents..

I thaw all my rodents on empty strips of flexwatt set to 92* with a reptile thermostat. It takes about 4 hours to thaw them this way. The warm water would probably be a little faster for one rat.
