How many?
So,
I'm obviously a dumb newbie, becoming enthralled with these ball pythons. I love how docile they are. They're gorgeous, too!
Anyway, I can't get enough of seeing morph pics, and I can't seem to find the answer to this. Most updated sites seem to be from 2008 or older...
So, How many known morphs are there? I've seen some sites claim 100 or so, and some say 40 or so. Is there really any count?
Thanks

Re: How many?
rough guess I think the last I heard of there was over 150. I could be very wrong.

If you're talking base mutations, you're probably looking at around 40-50, maybe more. It's hard to keep track because there are several new lines brought in every year, and it seems someone finds a normal looking ball python with a few markers every so often that proves to be an incompletely dominant mutation (what most folks in the reptile world will call co-dominant). As far as combinations of these base mutations go (often called designer morphs), more are being made every year, and that's where you start getting up in the 100's.

Thanks johnsonw84. That's a GREAT site with a GREAT list.

Re: How many?
The last count I heard was 60 identified base mutations. I don't think there's a definitive number on the combo's. With 60 base mutations, WE won't see all the combo possibilities in our life times.
