    Reptiles and high school/college

I'm a freshman in high school. I got my first snake when I was seven or so, a corn, which was subsequently lost because my friend left the lid open. My second snake, another corn, I got when I was barely 12 years old. She, too, was lost six months ago, yet again because my brother left the lid clamps off. I got my second snake in the summer of that year, and my third my friend gave me soon after.
So, I've had 2 snakes now for 2 years or so. I researched their care before buying them, and my two snakes right now are healthy (my BP was purchased in the summer of '08 and she's 1,200g now). The one time I had a health problem in a snake, I took her to a recommended reptile vet. I spend all my money on my animals. I've loved animals, especially reptiles, since I can remember. I'm definitely going to be in this for the long run.
I've been wondering lately what I'm going to do when I hit college. I'm planning on pursuing college, and don't know how likely it is that the college I go to will allow reptiles, or how many. I'd really love to save up for a few morphs, and maybe breed a clutch or two, but I just don't know if I can do that.
So, anyone who has/had reptiles in college, what did you do? What are the chances of college allowing them? Any limits on number or enclosure size? I'd definitely be using a small rack. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Thanks!

If you live in Res you might be allowed to have a Betta, but unless your school of choice has vastly different rules from the Universities up here, that'll be about it. If you want to keep reptiles, I'd look at living off campus.

Ya, the only snakes I have heard of being owned in res were hidden under a bed or something, but who would risk getting kicked outta school for that?
I've always lived off campus for the several years I have been in University, so I've never had a problem, which is good cause I still got lots of years of schooling left.
(PS, what is a freshman? I don't get that American lingo......)

I believe fish are the only animals allowed in res halls, sadly. My freshman year, a ferret got out in the dorm, but what got the RAs attention was the arguing and yelling concerning the ferret between the two roomies . One of the roomies ended up moving out the day after that 'yellfest'.

My roommate and I were also convinced that someone in the hall had a chihuahua or some other small dog...hmm...

Sadly, I'd say 'do as I say, not as I do' in this situation . Better be safe than have an RA or someone else find out about a group of reptiles living in your room. There's also the roommate factor when you live in a dorm/apartment.

@mr. s- freshman= 1st year, sophomore= 2nd year, junior= 3rd year, and senior= 4th year student. It applies to college as well as high school here in the States

I'm not in college, and don't plan on going to college. But, my Bf's sister (who's been in college for 7 years) barely has any time to take care of herself, let alone any animal. I'd suggest not getting more than 4 snakes before college, since you would have to jump through hoops to hide them.

I am college now and I just recently bought a ball python. I live off campus in an apartment though. That would be your best option.

id watch out with having pets that are not allowed at your school, my wife had a hamster in her room and went home for the weekend and they came in for routine maintenance and saw her hamster. they left a note stateing that they were not allowed and they took care of the problem. she found her hamster dead in its cage that was their way of solving the problem. plus she had to pay a disposal fee for them takeing care of the problem as well kind of pouring salt in the wound.

Alright, it looks like there's not much of a chance of it being allowed. On my hermit crab forum some people were discussing it, and some colleges allowed hermit crabs, so I wasn't sure. Thanks! It looks like off campus it will be. I'm definitely not going to do any sneaking of herps in a dorm, particularly after that horror story above this.

Personally the college I went to was in driving distance of my home, so that was a bonus for me.

On the whole though I majored in drinking, which is a major I do not recommend. If you'd like to make money, be respected, not fall down a flight of stairs, never agree to tazer yourself for $100, Never see the wisdom in surfing inside a grocery cart, etc.
