Yeah no worries. If this still bothers you, consider feeding outside of its home in a different enclosure. I have two dishpans, i put paper towel in there, heat up the rat so there is some smell, bring the BP near it until it notices, and then put the BP into one of the dishpans.

I then put the other (inverted) on top and bungee-cord it shut (weak cords). When the rat is ready, show time.

Of course there are other ways of doing this, just talking about feeding outside of their home can start a fight.

Re: Uh-oh... Question about subsrate again.

A little bedding wont hurt. You can also lay a big page of newspaper in the tank to put the rodent on at feeding time. As long as the snake doesnt drag it to the other side it wont ingest any bedding. I personally never had a problem with that bedding but the one that is cut very small like confetti was an issue for me. Its so tiny and clumps with the slightest moisture. I used it for a few weeks and stopped since the snake ingested so much of it when they ate. I mean mouth fulls. But with other beddings a little piece or 2 wont hurt. The eco earth is so much like dirt it shouldnt cause impaction issues.
