Talking long "line" on my ball belly

    Hi,

this is my first post in here .. i have been asked on my local forum but have no good answer .. so I post it in here (i knew this forum from snakebytes.tv when brian mentioned about this forum),

I just got her a month ago and when I got I didn't notice that her belly has line like folded paper ... it's about 3/4 of her body.

She still ate the mice twice a week ... (*giving it every 4-5 days)

My other ball has no line on her belly ...

Is it normal for Ball to have that line ?
Also, for normal ball, the belly looks very clean .... is this ball have some genetic mutation ?

Is that line always there? I ask, because balls can very often get marks in the skin from resting on something very sharp, much the way you can get a temporary indentation in your skin from leaning on the edge of the counter. It doesn't appear to be any sort of scar from an accident or incission, as generally a scar like that will have an uneven match-up between the opposite sides of the belly scale. The belly scales seem to be very closely aligned, and have me ruling out the possibilty of a scar.

    I hope that helps,

That could be it, but as he said it has been there a while. I wouldn't have noticed something like this either, kind of like how I never really noticed my snake's "belly button". This had to have been something from when it hatched or rubbing on something very sharp like a piece of cypress mulch or a sharp log or stick.

Re: long "line" on my ball belly

I've seen my snakes get creases in their skin at times, but never such a long line like that! The "leaning on a counter" idea doesn't seem to make sense with such a long line down the middle of the belly either.

In the first pic, the belly looks reddish. Is the snake going into shed? Or is there possibly something else going on?

Is her body weight good? I've seen some pics of underweight snakes that have concave bellies. Perhaps if her belly was sucked in like that, and she laid in just the right position, it could cause a crease like that?

Actually if you reread the OP, he says he didn't notice it when he got it.
