Cracked.com is win, asking for our help
So Im trying to be alittle more pro-active in all this windstorm of reptile hate and false propaganda. Since the media and other forms of entertainment have jumped on the bandwagon Ive been considering sources that seem to have remained untouched or atleast open minded. One place I Emailed was Cracked.com.
For those who know the site I personally find it highly entertaining with a growing popularity and reputation for digging up the truth and giving it back as gritty as possible. Being that Im basically a no one in name I was surprised and very pleased to receive a response Id like to share.
Ms. Watson,
This is Daniel O’Brien, the Assistant Editor of Cracked.com, and I’d like to respond to the message you sent to the general inbox of our comedy website regarding the unfortunate treatment of reptiles in the media. I want to say that first and foremost, yes I have been noticing the recent uprising in anti-reptile pet bills in proposal and scare tactics in the media and, frankly, it disgusts me. The media is operating from a position of sensationalism, the public is responding from a place of fear, paranoia and an overall cynicism that plagues modern Americans, and hatemongerers like Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel are just trying to shamelessly capitalize on this terror. You are a bright spot in a swarm of narrow-minded bigotry and, for that, you have our support.
What I’d like to know now is this: what are our next steps? The problem is that one man can’t make a difference. Time was, a person could be doing their part simply by owning a substantial number of reptiles, but that simply isn’t enough anymore. What can I do for the cause in today’s anti-reptilian climate? Just to give you some context about me, I own two adult iguanas, (Jub Jub and Humperdink), four baby anoles, (Heathcliff, Hortense, Henry and Docta Thrillia), two geckos, (U-God and Snoopy), and one two-year-old ball python, (Snakey “The Snake” Snaketura). I know that owning them is a good start, but this battle can only begin at home, it needs to end somewhere else. So where do I take it? The streets? Congress? Who do I talk to about rights for our iguanas? (And anoles, geckos and ball pythons?) I am very interested in our next steps, and I eagerly await your instructions.
I dream of a day when reptiles will be given the same rights as man. They’re people too.
Hugs and Kisses, Stars and Wishes.
Dan, Jub Jub, Humperdink, Heathcliff, Hortense, Henry, Docta Thrilla, U-God, Snoopy and Snakey “The Snake” Snaketura.
------------
Now Im also relatively new to this movement and I would be greatly appreciative if I could get a hand in sending links, advice to Mr O'Brien.

Re: Cracked.com is win, asking for our help
This is incredible! I for one am glad that Cracked.com is willing to the cause.
I'm an avid follower of their videos and articles and enjoy everything they do. Something Cracked.com could do is have one of their journalists write an article explaining the situation to their audience and and separating fact from fiction when it comes to Animal Planet and the general media. If they produce an article, that opens up our world and awareness to their audience, and it will grow on and on from there.
As I was typing this, I thought of Penn and Teller's bovine by-product. Unfortunetly that show doesnt appear to be as big as it used to be, but its a step in the right direction.
