    Do you take yours outside?

Heard conflicting views on this one and wondered what the general consensus was?

Assuming the temperatures are okay, (admittedly not often in England! ) is it really 'safe' to take your BP outside and into the garden? I hear some people even see fit to let them roam on the lawn, etc?! Is this safe (for them, I mean!)

What are the risks with regards to predators like birds and things? And also parasites, etc?

    Thanks.

yeah. so far it seems ok to me. mine loves the outside. but im never more than a few feet away. it just gives her a chance to explore. so as long as u keep an eye on her/him its not a big deal. unless u have an ant problom or somthing. hope this helped

I have taken certain snakes outside for pictures but not just to roam around. My biggest worry would be a mole hole that I cant see under the grass but a snake could just disappear in one. That and I wouldnt want to risk snake mites. There are alot of grass snakes like garter and rat snakes around my house so there is the chance of mites. Hawks, falcons, you name it. I guess Im just paranoid but I wouldnt risk it myself.

Re: Do you take yours outside?

I live in a forest, basically. So when the weather is nice I'll take the bigger snakes outside in the front yard so they can roam for a bit. Most of the time I can just sit down and they'll hang out on my lap and not really go anywhere, I always watch them real careful and give them baths when I bring them back inside. I do take them out when I want to take better pictures, which I've just started doing.

    Just have to be careful.

Once I took one of my cornsnakes outside to take some pictures in natural light. He sat there and basked in the sun. Was a cold day anyway, but was kind of neat seeing him act naturally.

Re: Do you take yours outside?

Thanks for the responses people. I think I may take him outside when the weather is better. I think he'd love the fresh open air. I reckon I will be hanging on to him though and not risking putting him on the ground. I'd hate to see him disappear down a hole, not to mention the mites and ticks problems!

Re: Do you take yours outside?

I will take my burm outside.. Just because I like to put her in the swimming pool and let her roam the back yard. I don't have to worry about any hawk or animal taking her off and I am pretty sure she would not find a hole big enough to slide into.. I hope not then I would have a bigger problem..lol

But great post I guess I never thought about the mole holes.. Hmmm I am always right there with my snake when it is outside.. I dont need any oopses..
