Start spreading the news
Over the last couple months I have started my corsnake breeding collection with my focus on candy canes. I bought some breeding adults that were already in the process of being bred. 2 out of the three are the parents of my baby red candy cane I bought last year. The male a candy cane and the female a snow that produced all red candy canes. I also bought an orange candy cane adult female who was in the process of producing her second clutch for the year. Well a neat surprize was revealed when her first clutch hatched for her previous owner. One motley stripe candy cane and one motley candy cane hatched which prooves out the parent het for motley stripe. This was the best news since my ultimate goal is to produce candy canes with different pattern morphs. Now all I need to do is mix in the aztec gene.
Anyway to the good news, the orange candy cane female just layed 11 good eggs, the male candy cane being the dad. This is my first corn clutch. Now I have my fingers crossed for some motley orange candy canes,

Re: Start spreading the news
That's a smoking candy cane and an excellent example of the morph!! Good luck with the eggs.
And I know there are candy cane motleys, but it's going to be a long and hard project to incorporate other patterns. Mostly because stripes tend to be pretty orange, and especially bloodreds have such deep background colors that getting a clean white background will take several generations of selective breeding. But if you're willing to stick with it, the end result could be VERY nice!

Keep this in mind:
A motley animal with NO stripe gene can still be a completely striped animal. So if you have motleys in the clutch, odds are its just another motley, especially if its not a perfect stripe (which I assume you meant by the "motley stripe" animal that hatched).
Motley and stripe are the same allele, but motley is "dominant" to stripe. I.e. You can breed a Motley to a stripe and you would produce all motley corns, but their genetics would technically be "het motley het stripe". These het motley het stripes are the only way to get motley and stripe in the same animal.
