Losing access at work EVIL ROOTKIT! :(

Well the computer is messed up here at work and so we are losing our internet access. At least I can safely say it wasnt my perusing that caused the infection. I left work sat night and all was fine. I come back sunday afternoon and its on the fritz. Turns out it has a very sneaky and well hidden rootkit. The IT guy here messed with it for about an hour with no luck. It has completely blocked malwarebytes updates and their website as well. It redirects most searches on google and bing to somewhere else. It has blocked the company email on this particular computer (thus the decision to end our access altogether) OI!

Ive personally tried everything. Sophos, TDSS Killer, Kaspersky rootkit detective, spybotS&D, malwarebytes, registry cleaners. No luck.

We have been trying to convince them to give each of us our own logon because there are 5 of us in this dept that use this computer but they wont listen. Im afraid to try combifix because It would probably delete something important and then Id get in trouble for trying to help.

So its only a matter of time. The plant manager has given the IT guy the order to nix our access when he has time (he has to reload everything too). When that happens I will only be on here occasionally at night when Im at home.

This job is about to get even MORE boring

Mods.. Can you please change my title to read "access" instead of acess? LOL

Sounds like your company is doing exactly what Big Gunns would do if it was his company. This is why they call it "work" and not "play on the internet while I should be working time".

Sucks for you though. You won't be able to see all of Big Gunns highly informative posts 10 times a day.

I think you're right dr del. This guy does not think its worth the time to do the proper searches to just find the bad file. He only tried one of the scans that I had already tried and nothing more. He's just lazy. He thinks it would just be easier to totally wipe everything out and re load. He even has an updated version of malwarebytes on a zip drive but he didnt want to take the time to upload it onto this computer.

As for YOU BG ! You would lose your mind if you had to sit here all day like I do with absolutely nothing to between the hours of 7pm and 10:30pm. The internet is what keeps us sane LOL.. Besides, we know who is doing the surfing that is causing all the infections we get up here. Despite warnings, this person continued to go to sites that most people would have been fired for. It sucks that the actions of one person is getting the rest of us punished.

At least I still have company on sundays. Thats the day I can bring one of my dogs to work so he keeps me busy and occupied with extra training
