A VERY Close Call...
so at about 3 o'clock today i fed all the nakes, when i fed my spider ball, Apollo, it took over an hour for him to start swallowing it. so i put the lid back on the feeding bin. and checked on him for the next hour. and just about 20 minitues ago, (at about 8:20 i relized he was still back in the bin. so i went to put him back in his cage. when i came in the room, i saw the bin, a broken lid to the bin, and NO SPIDER BALL! he must have broken through the lid somehow, even though he is a little guy. so i proceded to frantically search the house and my snake room, (practically destroying my house ) 5 minitues later, i found him in the next room over, with my Cat . i came racing over to snatch my little snake to safety, untill i noticed the cat wasn't harming the snake, but licking the snake, and purring quite loudly . dangerous, but funny. . this has been the closest call i have ever had from disaster. and i am still shaking about it...

wow that is a close call I had one escape one night fed turned off the light woke up in the morning and it was gone I searched for nights and night unable to sleep waiting to hear any movement then one night I heard a smacking noise and ran into another room and it was lying perfectly still on the ground and it was under a whole in the paneling in the room(broken light sheet from long ago) I think it fell out everything was fine with her though after the check up!

Re: A VERY Close Call...
lol, Ive had my bp for around 2 weeks...after the first week of letting it adjust to its new enviro we decided it was time for my Boxer to meet the new addition to the family(my dog loves our 6 hermit crabs). She was very gentle, smelling the bp from head to tail....the bp does not like the dog at all...I think its the shock of the dogs cold nose....the snake recoils everytime it senses the dog is near...so we keep the dog far away so as not to stress.

Re: A VERY Close Call...
Ha. Had something happen like that just this evening but with my corn. Was checking on him and (inadvertently) left the lid off the cage. What's worse is when I left the room, I left one of the cats inside. She's a rescue and was traumatized by whoever owned her before so she's rather subdued and quiet. On top of that she's very pregnant.
When I remembered she was still in the room and I went to let her out is when I found the lid off the cage and my corn snake missing. Went and grabbed Muffin who is (arguably) my #2 mouser to try to sniff out Ember. After a couple minutes of her not zeroing in on anything I decided to try Chloe, who is (arguably) my #1 mouser.
Chloe who's usually underfoot was strangely nowhere to be found, so I went room to room looking for her. In the room next to the snake room, I found Simon, whom I would describe as middle-aged (he's 6) and complacent, intently staring at something. What he was focused on, was Ember. About 30 minutes had elapsed from the time I left the lid off the cage.
I don't know how he got from one room to the other. There is a cat door in that room so possibly Simon could have picked him up and brought him in, but he had no marks on him and he wasn't acting freaked out like he'd just been picked up by a predator.
While neither cat played with him, he was in close contact with 2 cats that otherwise left him unharmed. Weird.
2.0 Normal BP (Paradox, Charade)
1.0 Nicaraguan Boa (Enigma)
1.0 Cube Stripe Corn (Ember)
0.1 Motley Sunglow Corn (Phoenix)
0.0.1 Sinaloan Milk (Pastiche)

Very lucky. Could have been a lot different outcome.
