Smile New to this site! Need Help!

Heya I'm Tanja and I'm from the Beardeddragon.org forum and I was recommended here as I am soon due to be getting my own Ball python, My big sister has had experiance with these snakes and her and her ex used to have corn snakes, ball pythons, green snakes etc aswell as other reptiles, so if I'm stuck on anything she's here to help me plus I have done my research

I'm just stuck on what type of ball python to get, they all look so gorgeous, I seen a picture of a Desert Gost Ball Python and it's gorgeous, but I also like a Normal Ball Python, Albino Python, Cinnamon Pastel Ball Python ARGHH Someone help me choose, Oh and I'm not wanting these to be like look at me I have an expensive looking snake, I just love all they're colours and patterns so if someone could help, that would be lovely.

Btw I'm new to this forum and I honestly will need time to get used to using it so if I dont reply straight away it's due to my silliness. Thank you Tanja

First off, Welcome to bp.net Tanja! Glad to have you here, and hope you find all the information you need as you enter the ball python world Like you said, there are quite a few different choices.. lots of patterns to choose from. I guess it all depends on what you can afford, as you can tell a lot of the high end morphs go pretty high in price. The deserts I've seen can go up to 3 grand. They are newer, and becoming very hott right now from what I am hearing.

    Oooo thank you

Gosh I didnt realise how new they were, they look so gorgeous you just dont know what to pick from. I phoned up my local petshop there to see how much it would roughly be but they said those are more american morphs so they wouldnt get it shipped in. I thought the albino's looked very nice but I'm not sure as I know with other animals, albinos are prone to illnesses easier, but I dont know if that will go for the snakes lol. I just want help haha and I certainly dont want a snake that will cost so much to buy :/ Sometimes I get confused by how much money someone is willing to pay for a pedigree dog or a morphed dragon lol it's confuses me haha.

Thanks for replying to my post I'm most certainly happy to be here

You will see that almost all local pet stores do not get in any of the actual 'morph' or ball python. On occation people have been seeing a pastel at a petco, but nothing more. In order to find the morphs you should find your nearest reptile show, thats where you will find what you are looking for. But like people paying extra money for a certain dog, you will have to pay more money for a certain morph of snake. The cheapest morph you will probably find right now are most likely pastels, spiders sometimes i've seen run around 175 or 200. Mojaves around 225 at my shows.

Hope you enjoy it here, you'll find everything.

Yeah my local store has a few Royal Ball Pythons in it, some milkies and corns, thats about it, obv other reps but thats the only snakes they have, the rest you need to order. I thought the Mojaves looked so nice aswell, I am certain I will get a normal ball python because I love the colours and patterns but I think it's the same with the others, they are all just so nice looking that I want them all haha.

BTW, the Desert Ghost is a different mutation than the Desert. The Desert Ghost is a recessive gene, and the Desert is dominant (maybe co-dominant, but not proven yet). Both are on the upper end of pricing.

BTW Tanja, dr del, who is one of our moderators, is also from Scotland - I'm sure he can point you in the right direction as far as where you can get mutations in Scotland!
