    Topless or Not

I'm getting ready to build another rack and got to thinking. Would I like this rack to be set up for tubs with or without lids? What do you think? Since I'm building it, I can set it up anyway I want. Lids are good sometimes, but other times, I think they just get in the way. What do you think?

    Re: Topless or Not

If you have a sizable collection, the lids make cleaning, watering, and feeding more of a pain. However, building a rack for tubs with no lids with the necessary precise measurements to ensure there are no escapes is way beyond my capability!

IMHO, i would go topless, it's much easier. i build mines to hold 32qts topless and love it, i also have 6qts in there but i hate to have to pull the hole thing out just to check, take them out or change water.

I agree the tops always want to come off anyways when you slide it in. At least with my rack that is the way it is.

    Re: Topless or Not

i built mine with lids on and it is a bit more work but it easier to move the tubs (as in stacking them if i need to treat the room for mites, no worries about hte wood mildweing from the moisture, no rubbing against the wood and spilters plus if they do start to squeeze out the lid prevent me from dragging their body against the wood and causing more injury.

plus i can change the water with hte lid on just open the one side ans slide it out enough to place water in make s it harder for the snake to try and speed out the tub.
