    In the market

Hey folks, I'm in the market for a monitor. I was thinking Savannah or Black Throat. I am having trouble finding a local exotic pets dealer. I've been told by several place to check the internet, but with so many places out there I was wonding if anyone has any suggestions on a good site to purchase from? Also, as a long time reptile owner, but first time monitor owner, which would you guys/gals recommend? And is it safe to purchase any reptile at all from the internet and have them subjected to shipping conditions?

    Thanks for the help!

kingsnake.com or fauna classifieds. and before you buy I would check the BOI for the sellers reputation.

Cool thanks for the help! Ever heard of Reptile City? Couple people told me to check them out too.

    Re: In the market

The only one I can think of that I seriously DO NOT recommend buying from is LLLReptile. They sell sick reptiles and sometimes even reptiles with a bunch of parasites (internal/external). I also heard during shipping some reptiles even die Definitely have a bad rep, my sister got a Savannah from them and probably about a month later or so it died. I still have my adult Beardie from them, and I'm so glad she's doing alright.

You don't say where you're from, but I would recommend a breeder's expo.

As far as recommending a species, it all depends on what you like, how much pain you can tolerate () and how much space you can offer your pet. Sounds to me like you have a LOT of research to do before looking for that lizard...

    Re: In the market

Oh for sure, I've picked up several books and been searching the web for as much information as I can get. I have plenty of space to offer, a whole room to be exact, and I live in Indiana, so there's very few reptile expos around.
