    Sweet sheds.

ok so other than checking the temps and just an occasional glance at my boys over the last few days I didn't handle them at all. But then i get home from work, and I look in one of the tubs and my smaller male had a beautiful shed, nearly 3 large pieces. Naturally getting excited I over handled the skin and tore it all to pieces. Opps. I'm sure it will happen again. I put him back after I clean up his tub, and then I look at my other male. He looks just fine so I pull him out to handle him a bit and next thing I know he is rubbing and curling around my arm and hand, and rubbing some more, and as i put him back in the tub I notice that he has shed about 40% of his skin. I didn't even realize that he was going to shed when I pulled him out. Just thought it was kinda cool. Have fun everyone.

They should be shedding in one complete piece. While 3 separate pieces is not a big deal, it should just all come off in one piece ideally.

    Re: Sweet sheds.

Well I looked at my bigger guy and he looks like he will be shedding one complete piece. I am going to turn the humidity up a lil bit and see if that helps them out at all.

I would not stress too much.. 3 Pcs are not bad..
Sometimes when your snake sheds as they rub the shed skin can snag on stuff and break..
If your having complete sheds even 3 Pcs then sounds like your doing good.
Once in awhile you will get the full shed as long as it rolls right and doesnt snag on items in your tank.
If you are getting ant stuck shed then you will need to take a look at your Husbandry / Humidity.

Sounds great ! good luck with the rest

    Re: Sweet sheds.

For retained shed, try a 30 minute soak in a lidded tub of tepid water and a gentle rub over with your fingers afterwards. Remember to check the eyes, chin and tail tip (retained shed can lead to tail tip loss if not spotted).

Checking shed skins can also be a good idea, make sure the eye caps are there and they're good for spotting sperm plugs in those 400g males that you think should be ready to go in a month or two!

Ok well I checked my bigger guy the next day and he has a full complete shed. I am going to try and get a good pic of it and post it. Thanks for all the advice everyone.
