Would you have to quarantine a spotted python from a ball python collection?

You have to quarantine EVERY new reptile you bring into your home. Some illnesses are specific to some species of snakes--some can affect all snakes, and some can affect all reptiles.

Your geckos could get your snakes sick and vise versa.

Every reptile needs to be Quarantined.. No ifs ands or buts..
If you want to be safe...

Wow I was just gonna ask this. I only have 1 room, no house for me. So I have a little cabinent under my bed that I norm do my quarantines at.
I have a super hypo tangerine coming in from BHB (she is a yr old) and i have a seperate cage and tank for her. Would it matter if I just put her in the glass tank and wash hands and what not inbetween handling or do i need to lock up the little leo for 3 weeks?

IMO, lizards are a bit different.

But if anyone wants to cite a source with information of a disease that can be passed from Leo's to Ball Pythons, please do so.

If you only have one available room then quarantine isn't really possible in your case so your either ''all in'' or nothing I'm afraid.

Some people just do not have the ability to quarantine as effectively as others. You are left with a choice of never getting a new animal, or just QTing as best as you can.

If/when you get new animals, always be especially careful where you get them from, look them over very carefully before you bring them home, etc. Also, look into other possibilities you may not have considered. Do you have a friend who could QT your new animals at their house? Even if it stayed at their home for only a few days, it would be better than nothing. Normally, I'd say an animal you got from your friend should still be QTed when you brought it home, but a friend that has no other reptiles would seem like a reasonable QT location if you have no other options.

I mean I norm keep the cabinet closed or crack alittle with a towel over the opening. I put a lamp inside for "light" and shut it off at night. Nothing that I use in that area is used or put near the rack or my other snakes.

I don't trust other ppl with my reptiles. To them they are just stupid objects that have no meaning or value they are just what they are, reptiles that should be in the wild not as a pet. I might look into keeping the gecko at my girls place in a 16 qt for 3-5 days and see how the little girl is doing.
I'll be sure to check the her over very well before she is brought in the room.

If keeping animals in the same room isn't QTing them right, then I have never QT'd one animal I own. I keep them in seperate tubs and make sure they do not get handled without washing hands.
