    Re: freaking ants!

That has happened to me a lot with the aspen and cypress substrate when I would buy from pet stores, then I switched to eco-earth. I don't have any ball pythons right now, but, just saying. Maybe you could try www.bigappleherp.com or www.reptiledirect.com if you don't want to switch substrate. Either one of those are you best bet, they have very nice products.

Maybe you can boil the mulch you have and wring it out and let dry. That will kill any kind of insect and egg. It will take a little work though.

I have only been using this for about 6-8 months.... I got the idea from another person on this site who is responsible for my addiction. She has been using shredded paper for several years. The idea makes good sense the bedding marketed as snow...is just paper... Any who it works good, snakes seem to like it, its incredibly cheap, absorbs pee or the ocasional dumped water bowl. As far as clean up, I spot clean as needed and change bedding when bedding is soaked or has that smell..... You accumulate way more shredded paper than you think, I keep a 50 gallon trash can I purchased just for this and it is constantly full....
