    Probe placement?

    Hay everyone,

I modded a Acu-Rite thermometer, so now I have three leads. One for the humidity and two for the temps. Do you keep one of the temp. probes on the flexwatt? Or inside on the tub bottom? I had all three in the tub with lid on and it is a pain every time I pull the tub out. Or should I drill a bigger hole and run the three leads though that?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Re: Probe placement?

Place one temp probe in the tote directly above the flex watt. This tells you the hottest point in your tank. Also place one probe in the the cool side to get an cool side/ambient temp.

I use a dummy tote in my racks if I have the space to get an idea. Hope this helps you.

    Re: Probe placement?

If your using a rack then set the probe DIRECTLY on the flexwatt and set the thermostat to your desired temps.

Doing this will give you the MAX temp the tape will reach which means inside the tubs will never surpass that.

you necessarily dont need one in the tubs if you have the heat tape temps measured. This is how i do all my racks.

But how much of a difference in temp. from on the flexwatt to where the snake lays? What temp. do you keep it at on the flexwatt?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Re: Probe placement?

I have the Acurite and thermostat probe taped next to one another on the flexwatt set at 93. In side the tubs i get 91.
