    Eggs sticking to tubs?

Do you guys ever have problems with eggs sticking to the bottom of tubs after they are layed? If so what do you do to make pulling the eggs less of a hassle?

    Re: Eggs sticking to tubs?

I check for eggs every morning when they are due. On occasion the females lay directly on the tub. They come off easily, I just sloooowwwly peel them off. I never had a problem but I guess if they sat for a while you may have to be more careful.

I'll be checking daily also. I just have to work and having my wife pull eggs has the potential to be a disaster. The eggs I got last year came off the tub fine but I was curious what you all have experienced.

    Re: Eggs sticking to tubs?

    Hi,

I've had two clutches laid directly (or partially ) on the bottom of the tub but neither actually stuck to it. They have stuck to the paper on occasion though and I have had to just leave a little bit of paper on them all the way through incubation.

I must have caught them fairly quickly though as I have also always been able to seperate the eggs without problems as long as I am carefull.

You can use melted wax to repair egss the size of BP, but this will only help when the eggs themselves are stuck not when the eggs are stuck to the tub.

I keep them on newspaper too and sometimes that sticks to them but it has never been a problem.

Maybe you should put newspaper under your bedding to make sure they dont get to the tub.

PAM works wonders for NON stock. Couldn't resist.

What i do is when i know the female is due i double up on the paper towel and make it moist for them to lay on which in turns keeps the paper towel in place better and humidity up as well.

This is how I do my paper towels all the time, but I might start doubling up, just to help preserve the humidity a little longer and give that extra barrier. I have a girl that is due the beginning of march.
