my Bp is making weird noises while eating

I just gave my BP a mouse and he stuck and started taking it down. I was on the internet and i heard a noise. I looked over at him and hes got it in his throat and is working it down but its going very slowly compared to how he usually does it. Hes also making a little noise similar to when we as humans exhale strongly through our noses to clear it out when we have a cold. Is this anything to worry about?

    thanks

Is he going into shed? Many snakes that are going into shed will sometimes make a noise when they exhale. This is usually caused by a little bit of shed blocking part of the nostril.

The other side to the "noise" is that it could be a sign of a respiratory infection although that one symptom alone is not really enough to say that the animal is sick. If he exhibits any other symptoms of an RI: Wheezing, clicking, popping, open mouth breathing, mucous coming from the nose and mouse, bubbles around the nose and mouth...Then make a vet appointment.

Keep in mind an RI is most often caused by being at low temperatures for too long.

that is the only symptom and when he was eating just now is the only time ive ever heard it. My other bp tends to di it more often but i havent noticed other symptoms from him either.

and i dont know if it would make a difference but he wasnt is his hide all day and normally he spends most of his time there... especially right after a meal.

You are probably hearing the snake exhaling through the epiglottis.

    Hi,

Maybe he's just having trouble breathing round the mouse? If it is a large meal for him maybe it is squeezing his breathing 'ole shut.

I would monitor it and see if he still makes sounds after he has finished and settled back down.

Probably nothing, but keep an eye/ear on the snake and pay more attentioin next time you feed it.

    Good Luck!
