uth with tstat question

Now when setting it up i got the UTH hooked to the Tstat and using a acu rite to monitor temps. I should set tstat to shut off at a certain temp (92-94 deg?)

Now should that be with no substrate? Cuz if the snake were to sit on the uth under the substrate then it would be hotter correct?

your acurite temp probe is on top of the glass under the substrate right? thats where you want it to say 93ish

Well atm the substrate is pushed off to the side so its just the acu rite probe on top of the glass..

And the tstat probe is under the tank under the UTH (so its not inside where snake can move around)

Reason i moved the substrate was so it didnt have any impact on the temp. Cuz the snake can go below the substrate and would be hotter

Edit* The tstat just shut off the uth once the acu read 93.6 deg.

Question is how low will the temp go before it turns it back on

you don't need much substrate. half an inch should be enough and it won't change the temp on the probe much. Just make sure the probe for the thermometer is measuring the temp right on the glass and don't let it get hotter than 95*F.

i think it will turn back on when the temp gets higher or lower

Yep! Those temps are perfect! You can put the probe directly on the uth. If it keeps those temps for 24 hours then you are good to go!

Actually im testing out a tub atm.

I got a 25Q tub. sterilite tub. With a 10-20G zoomed UTH on the bottom. It covers around half the tub.

Testing out the temps in that.. So far looks much better then the 29G tank.

This is with no substrate yet

The tub is like 18 long, 14 wide, and 7 deep
