    Re: breeding cycle

Actually, they lay eggs around every 30 days (sometimes longer for first time girls).

This year after my females get off their break I plan to go 4-6 months together and then another 6 month break after they are done laying eggs.

    Re: breeding cycle

I just finished my first season and although I didn't get a lot of hatchlings, be prepared for lots of hatchlings. Try your best to leave the new little hatchlings alone... it's hard, I know lol

Also, your females will most likely keep laying after seperated from a male so don't assume they are done just because you have taken him out. Start their break once they aren't laying anymore.

Start with healthy adults that are nice and big, understand there are inherent risks with breeding geckos, as with anything else.

Give the girls dusted crickets 2-3 times a week to keep their calcium up and you can leave a bowl of pure calcium in there tank for them to use. Make sure your male is eating enough too, sometimes he may be too obsessed with making babies and loses weight.

Consider the whether you have the time, space, supplies, and funds to care for hatchlings.

Yea, I read on here that they can hold the sperm for up to like 6 months after or somthing crazy like that.

Good thing I like them then.

I keep some together and some need to be separated. if u keep them together all the time u can have a calcium crash on your girl or she can loose allot of weight some just need a rest too.

You will probably need to do something a little different than 6 months on and 6 months off if by "on" you mean housing the male and female together. Since females can retain sperm, they can continue to lay for anywhere from 3-9+ months after being separated from the male. With a first time breeder female I would place her with the male for about 3 months tops and then separate her. Let her completely finish laying, which again can take anywhere from 3-9+ months. Once she is totally finished laying eggs she should have a break of 6-9 months minimum to rest and recover. So you might actually end up housing her with the male for 3 months and then by herself (or with other females) for over a year while she finishes laying and then rests.
