Unhappy First breeding year done already

I was told both of my normals were female. And when the guy who usually sexes the snakes for me keeps acting like a tard I ordered my own probe set.

Now my 1500g normal turns out to be a male

And the little one who never eats is the female but I cant get her to eat to ever try and put on weight.

I dont really have any questions just a rant to let you know that looks like I have to think about next year already. Bummer

Don't freak out yet... Popping is the sure way to know. I have made mistakes probing in the past.

I will say it was my first time probing, but it slid damn near all the way down before getting any resistance. I may have be a rookie but it was quite obvious on the larger Ball and I am 99% on that one. Although on the much smaller on I would say I am only about 75% but he/she is no where near breeding size if in fact she is a female.

How do you pop an adult snake? I would figure it's the same method but I thought they can control their package as adults.

They do have very strong muscles and will "hold" that area in

Well the probe set is a good investment for any snake owner. As stated already take your time and practice using the probes so you are doing it correctly. I personally wouldn't even attempt popping a 1500 gram snake, especially a boa or python. Sorry to hear about your season though, it is very frustrating I bet.

Well I have youtubed myself to death on probing and am pretty confident on the proceedure. But there was no mistaking it. I have been nervous about ever learning but I'm so glad I did. A bit disappointed but now I'm not sure to keep him or let him go. I dont have any real purpose for a normal male.

You can pop adult ball pythons pretty easily. Just make sure you start low and dont squish their junk as you may need *some* force if they are tense

That is a shame, I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully next year will be better

Same thing happened to me. Picked myself up a big "girl" who is now my largest male.
Not a good feeling. I hear ya.
