I kind of agree on this......I regularly mix different pastel lineage/stock. I just try to breed for what I like or what I think will look pretty and IMO it pays off.

For what it is worth many of the breeders that have pastel lines or stock named after them, did not start with one pastel......they founded their projects with multiple pastels. In the mid-90's pastels were imported from Africa with some regularity. Soooo....they kind of mixed and matched to make stuff that they liked.

If you want a specific line of pastel or a pastel with specific qualities (this can be a crap shoot), go to that particular breeder and pay for a nice pastel...you'll probably end up happy.
But to assume that a particular line or stock holds "X" amount of color or doesn't turn "X" color, especially after the stock has passed through several other breeders is kind of naive.

Greg Graziani has great pastels because he has worked to refine them. But just because you get a Graziani line pastel from some guy who got his Graziani pastel from some guy doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. I mean, what if the two others guys didn't care about looks or color and "undid" Greg's original work?

To further complicate things there are people out there that just tack a name onto a pastel to make a few more bucks. That can make a "name" worthless....especially the farther it gets from the original breeder.

OK....now I am starting to rant....

To the OP....I can't even wager a guess on what line of pastel that is from a photo.
Ohhh....and how do you get your mice to lie flat like that?

Could be a Bell line, Graziani line, or one of dozens of CH lines that came in over the last few years. The good news is that it really does not matter, not like with an Axanthic, where you have compatibility issues.
