New family member from NARBC Tinley!

I proudly present.. Luciuos!! Tiny little male citrus beardie. Already starting to color up. He's going to be a nice one

~His new digs until my boaphiles get here in about a month~

Isn't he a cutie?! He's really a valentines gift for my son who has desperately wanted a lizard for awhile now. Also got in touch with a bug lady at the show. I can get pheonix worms shipped for this guy. Then silks when he's big enough for them. The heck with crickets. Wont be long before this little guy only gets his daily salad greens, pheonix worms and silks. Save me some money and hassle while keeping him as healthy as can be

Well duh Joe.. LOL! He gets turnip greens, kale and mustard greens. And yes, they are in tiny little pieces. I just want to get the pheonix worms for him to take the place of crickets for his fat and protein. They are much higher in nutrients and calcium than crickets. 3 month shelf life and much less hassle and stink then crickets. As are silkworms. Plus I have a mulberry tree in my yard so silks can be fed well here

Dont worry Joe, he's hooked up for sure. Got his UVB light, UTH, thermostat, his greens are in the tall rock bowl and he's constantly awwwwwing me with his cuteness.

he's cute, but beardies don't really need a uth, can't read temps with the belly, I've been told the absorb it through there neck, even with a dimmer or a T-stat the temp could get to high, if your doing to add the to the temp in his tank, just add a exxtra household bulb tio the mix, if you know this, sorry

Grats on the new pickup!! Very nice pics too. I have contemplated getting a dragon a few times, but decided not to due to the fact that I would have to go to the pet store to pick up crickets. I wasn't aware that you could feed them worms instead...

Thats what almost stopped me Eddie. The babys eat alot of crickets. Up to 60 a day I guess. The pheonix worms come in an extra small size that the baby beardies can take. They dont need to be gutloaded either. Ive got fortified cricket food and water bites in with the crickets but its a pain in the butt.

As for the UTH. I have it set quite low right now. The probe for it is actually stuck to the UTH underneath the tank to prevent it from getting higher than what I set it for. The lamp is on a timer. All night after the lamp turned off the ambient temp stayed right around 70 and the second probe for the thermometer is over the UTH. So I think it'll be ok. The UTH was already on this tank. It was just a spare I had. I just plugged in the UTH and therm for supplimental, being winter and all.
