Het VPI Axanthics
My Hets will not lock up, the female seems interested, but the male doesn't.
I am debating on putting in my pastel or woma (I have a friend's Woma here breeding right now) in with the female and just holding back a male to try for axanthic combos.
Which would you do?
Het VPI Axanthic x Het VPI Axanthic
Het VPI Axanthic x Pastel
Het VPI Axanthic x Woma
1.0: Honey Bee | Lesser | Banana Pastel Enchi | Clown 66% Het Albino
0.1: Kingpin | x2 Mojave | Super Pastel HGW | Albino | Sterling Mojave Pinstripe | GHI Pewter | Pastel Het Clown | Sable 66% Het Clown

Re: Het VPI Axanthics
Try to put the Pastel or Woma in there with her, and see if they lock up. If they do, pull the Pastel/Woma, and put the Het male back in. She may just not have large enough follicles (i.e. be putting off enough pheromones) to interest the Het, but another male used to start her up may help.

Re: Het VPI Axanthics
She tail wags and scents all over the tub when I put him in. I have tried using the shed of my other males and it doesn't make a difference. I will try with the woma and then throw the het male in.
This is my wife's most anticipated pairing, she really wants to see that silver and black. I figure if he never gets the hang of it, I can use the woma and have a chance at axanthic womas next year.

If she is doing that, then she is ready, and it sounds like a male problem. Here is one more trick that you can try. Take some sperm from your Pastel or Woma, and wipe it on the neck of your Het girl, and then put the male Het in the tub. This may also spur him into breeding, by thinking he is competing with another male.

Re: Het VPI Axanthics
Hi,
Do you have any other females at breeding age?
Maybe you could put their sheds in with the het axanthics to see if that gets his junk inna funk.

I wouldnt put a het with a co-dom, it would be just a heart breaker for you if you dont figure out the hets and poss hets later on. I guess just give the guy some time

Yes and no. If it were a female co-dom to the het then it could be bad, but since the breeding female is the het I can prove the possibles out the next year.

My YB just shed yesterday so I put her shed in and placed the female in the male's tub this time, I woke up to tails curled, but no for sure lock, they could've locked overnight, but we will see.
They are both from Adam Wysocki, she is an 08 at about 1400g, he is an 07 at about 1300g. Hoping things start moving along.
