    Incubator T-Stat

I want to make an incubator out of a wine cooler or fridge for my some crested gecko eggs. Could I use a plug in lamp dimmer or something along those lines as a thermostat to control to heat cable or flexwatt?

The problem with lamp dimmers is that if the temps fluctuates in the room where they are used you will have to constantly adjust it and obviously this is not a good idea when you are dealing with incubation.

A reliable thermostat is the single most important thing during incubation, well worth the investment.

On a side note you do not need an incubator for cresties eggs they can incubate just fine at room temp.

The problem is my house stays pretty cold. High 60s and low 70s.

I am not experienced in incubating Crestie eggs but I've used a Repti-Temp 500r thermostat and it does the trick for the most part (if you're only heating one device). I would say you should be fine using that if all you need to achieve is room temperature. They are only about $30.

My air conditioning system is set on 70 during the winter and I am incubating eggs right now at that temp, takes a little longer but it works.

Cresties eggs can be successfully incubated between 68 and 80 degrees with ideal temp in the mid 70's.
