    Antibiotics?

My Brazilian came to me with an RI, took her to the vet and she prescribed some oral antibiotics and said to bring her back after two weeks if she hasn't shown any sign of getting better. The oral antibiotics are okay, she gets huffy with me afterwards but the tube they gave me is just a flexible catheter and so it's pretty easy to administer (with a second person that is). Is two weeks really enough time to determine whether the antibiotics are working or not? Or do I need to have her on them longer? And she hasn't ate for a long time...I mean, probably a couple months that the person previous to me had her, she's not real thin or lethargic yet but a couple months is a long time. Can I try to force feed her or can she eat while on oral antibiotics? I saw a post awhile back about this but I can't seem to find it again or I wouldn't be asking really.

    Re: Antibiotics?

With oral anti-biotics, it takes a little longer to see improvement since their digestive system is so much slower.

Will you be giving her antibiotics for the full 2 weeks before you go back in?

That sounds about right to me. For injections its usually a shorter treatment period.
