New Reptile Blog! Help wanted!
Hey All!
I am a little new to these forums in terms of actively posting however, I have been a passive participant for the past 2 years. I love all reptiles and and although it sounds corny, I would really like to spread the word and try to make reptiles a part of mainstream society! With all the bordering legislation on reptiles as pets, I felt that one of the ways I could contribute to the hobby is to spread the word about these amazing animals through a blog. Hopefully this blog could direct more attention and actually convert naysayers into reptile lovers themselves!
This is what led me to create a reptile blog at www.herpdaily.com. If you visit that site you will see that there's not much on it. I am still currently working on the initial articles but they will be coming soon! my vision is to transform this blog into an entertaining and informative piece of journalism aimed both at current hobbyists and prospective hobbyists as well!
anyways, I would just like to see if anyone out there would like to contribute as a journalist to the site. Please contact me as I am looking to write articles about reptiles expos ( with plenty of pictures and first hand experiences) breeder interviews, product reviews, breeder reviews , and anything related to the reptile industry!
Sincerely,
Chris

Re: New Reptile Blog! Help wanted!
I think it would definitely be interesting but it would be very hard to draw attention too it.
I don't think a blog would draw any more attention from the mainstream than youtube videos or forum posts or breeders blogs though.
I honestly don't see why you need to try and make reptiles more mainstream. I understand that they are not as common as a cat or dog but reptiles already are a pretty common household pet.

Re: New Reptile Blog! Help wanted!
Hey Kaorte,
I appreciate the feedback, and I do agree that it will be very hard to draw attention to it, but the challenge of producing great content for the public to enjoy is part of the reason why I am working hard at it. . In terms of going " mainstream" I think that if the hobby got more popular with mainstream America, it would help to fight the legislation against reptiles as well as change the negative perceptions people have towards snakes ( For instance, i currently had to get rid of all my snakes because the owner of the house im currently living in believes they are dangerous animals)
Sincerely,
Chris

Re: New Reptile Blog! Help wanted!
That is awful! I hope you can find a different place to live. I could never imagine living somewhere that wouldn't allow reptiles.
It would be nice for reptiles to become more acceptable pets and I think they are gaining in popularity. I would definitely be easier to fight this legislation with more people on our sides.
It would really be nice to get some positive stories about snakes for once. It seems like the only publicity they ever get is negative.
