    Handsome Rob

I finally got a dumbo-eared ratty. I picked him up earlier today and can't be more happier with him than I already am. Not only is he a good looking boy, he's also the biggest sweetheart I've yet to come across. I have major breeding plans for this little cutie. Oh....and I called him Handsome Rob, because I have a thing for all of Jason Statham's characters. Anyway, thought I'd share the pics of him that I took for my rattery website. Enjoy!

Actually, he's a dumbo Triamese. While this coloration is not recognized by many of the rat clubs out there, they are growing in population and I think it is only a matter of time before they are an accepted marking.

Wait until you see dwarf dumbo broken marked siamese. The pair I have are adorable.

This is also why when i move I am bringing my Dumbos with me, because they are abundant up here, but down south appear to be very rare, and especially the dwarfs, so I will bring them with.

Most of my own are Triamese because my rats all pretty much have the Siamese gene. It's very funny though that the random feeder rats I picked up to breed have it.

What exactly are you calling triamese? What distinguishes this from a siamese or a himilayan?

    Re: Handsome Rob

Well, as I said it's not really a recognized coloring/patterning in most rat clubs. The name is basically a "just for fun" name at the moment. A Triamese rat is a Siamese or Himalayan rat that also has a colored hood marking. Usually this hood is of a darker or lighter color than their actual Siamese markings, but also different from their background coloring of off white or cream. This basically gives them three colors, hence the moniker "Triamese". Most rat clubs just basically say the hood/Siamese mixture is just a "bad" Siamese....but more and more are popping up here in the states, and I think it really is only a matter of time before they are a recognized marking.

For example, with Handsome Rob, if you look at this picture, you can see the very faint outline of his hood against his paler overall color.

    Re: Handsome Rob

Sorry for the double post, but it wouldn't let me edit again to include these pictures of my female Triamese. She is not a dumbo and will be one of Handsome Rob's ladies when I get the setup for them complete and Rob gets out of initial quarantine.

    Re: Handsome Rob

Okay I see what youa re saying. I have never heard Triamese. I have always heard them referred to as Hooded Siamese.

Both of my dwarfs are hooded siamese dumbos. The female has what looks to be a mohawk of darker coloring.
