    Leucistic Burmese and Retics

How are they produced? I thought with the retics it was from breeding a super to a super....which is confusing, because its almost like your seeking to make a 'super duper' if that exists! Genetics eh...

    Re: Leucistic Burese and Retics

I dont know about burms but I know there is a retic morph called a fire. Much like a fire BP. When bred together they produce the white retic. They ahev also been bred into dwarf retics. The leucistic is technically the super form of the fire..

Here is a link with pictures and info..

True, true.. Its just another case of calling the same snake two different names. To the OP... A fire retic is also called a platinum.

Just so there is no confusion. And thanks for the burm info. I did not know anything about hypo burms.

Please be very careful with the Hypo burms...There are only a few true Hypo breeders out there...The originals came in back in 07 I think...But many are selling light colored burms as Hypo's, Fire's or Platinums (different names for the Hypo gene) and getting the $$ for them too...If you have questions, please feel free to PM, I have 2 from trusted sources and can direct you to true Hypo breeders if you're interested...

ok, think i get it. surely though you dont only get lucys by breeding a platinum to a platinum- you could also pair a lucy x lucy, lucy x platinum, ivory x platinum etc etc and still have a chance of makin em?

You are correct, I was simply stating the 2 bases need to make them

That is correct, but in the Burm-World there are only a handful of Lucy's out there (unlike the BP-world)...One is up for sale on Kingsnake I think too (Brad's a good guy and very reputable with his hypo's too)...Thus, starting with the hypos would be most economical because the Lucy's are what everyone is trying for this coming season...

    Re: Leucistic Burmese and Retics

i dont want to actually breed them, i just need to know how it works. I have read that you produce lucys by breeding a homozygous platinum to another homozygous platinum, which was very confusing at the time, and although it would work, its not the right way of explaining it. Ive also read you only get lucys by breeding ivory to ivory....

    Re: Leucistic Burmese and Retics

Yah, it's very confusing and depending which world your in sometimes the names change...BP's have the combo's with Mojo's, Butter's and Lesser's...TICS have their own combos with names and in the Burm world it's still relatively new to the snake...Like I or someone said earlier, there are only a few Lucy's produced ever...Most come from the Hypo x Hypo breedings, but there are Platinums out there that will breed Lucy's too...
