If you are going to get a tub, I would consider probably a 41qt tub for a 3 foot snake. You would need a UTH, but make sure you have it connected to a thermostat in order to keep the temperatures controlled. Without a thermostat your snake can overheat and die, which I know you wouldn't want happening.

if i build a small rack for kings is it recommended to use lids or as long as the gaps from the top of the tub to the next self are like 1/8" will they be ok and not escape?

I would build it to work with the lid on, just in case it warps later on and the gap grows. My homemade rack has no lids, and I have to use a slip of cardboard to "jam the door" on some of the tubs because the gaps are too big.

I made it work to my advantage by labeling the cardboard slips, allowing me to just move the slips as I move snakes

You can see what I mean in this picture. The 41qt tubs fit my 4-5 foot Honduran milks just fine, the 3-4 footers would be fine in a 32qt though.

Edit: Yes I have dusted it since this picture

so its really tight with the lids on but I have about a 1/4" gap is this to much for the kings and should I try and space them out?

1/4" sounds a bit loose, I would keep the lids on. Kings are notorious escape artists.

Oh they definitely are. Some Kings from that Texas situation got out of the tubs somehow and were loose in a vision cage. Tricky little dudes

Re: variable kingsnake tub help!!!!! ASAP NEED THE TANK

Ok so I did a minor adjustment on the shelves and now they sit around 1/4" above the lid but I dont think the kings will push the lid of the bin and even if they could the lid hangs over the side of the bin so I dont think 1/4" is enough. Hopefully my assumptions are correct. Here is a link to my build thread. http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...d.php?t=112488 Also, how many holes should I put in the side for air and should I put any in the lid?
